It is an extremely effective tool that can transform entire communities, industries and even the entire world at large.

Entrepreneurs who create a business with a positive impact in the community feel fulfilled and feel they have a sense of purpose. They can also leave a legacy for the next generation of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs can make a significant impact, whether that’s changing the way people shop, enhancing access to education and healthcare or combating global inequality and poverty.

Entrepreneurs often take part in social entrepreneurship (SEE) by identifying a need and developing innovative solutions to meet the demand. This may include leveraging their business experience and relationships to expand into new markets, or working with partners to develop more sustainable products. This can include philanthropy as they want to promote the cause that is important to them.

Academics participating in SEE can build upon their research findings by releasing them in the publications of their institutions which are a crucial instrument for encouraging the diffusion of knowledge. This will help develop academic cultures that are entrepreneurial and also encourage collaboration with industry and other non-academic partners. SSRN’s Entrepreneurship Collection contains scholarly articles which discuss the concepts and theories of the entrepreneurship field and how they relate to law and management economics, public policy and economics.
